Ingredients

  • For the Steak:
  • 1 lb steak sirloin or ribeye, cut into 1-inch cubes 🥩
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste 🧂
  • For the Glaze:
  • 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar 🥄
  • 3 tbsp maple syrup 🍁
  • 1 tsp soy sauce 🍶
  • 1 clove garlic minced 🧄
  • 1/2 tsp fresh thyme leaves optional 🌿
  • Tools You’ll Need
  • A sharp knife for cutting steak into cubes
  • A large skillet cast iron works best!
  • Tongs or a spatula
  • Measuring spoons

Instructions

  • Prepare the Steak
  • Season the steak cubes generously with salt and pepper on all sides. Let them sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes to ensure even cooking.
  • Sear the Steak
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the steak cubes in a single layer (work in batches if needed). Sear each side for 1-2 minutes until golden brown and crusty. Remove the steak bites and set aside.
  • Make the Glaze
  • In the same skillet, lower the heat slightly and melt the butter. Stir in balsamic vinegar, maple syrup, soy sauce, and minced garlic. Simmer for 2-3 minutes, allowing the glaze to thicken slightly.
  • Combine & Serve
  • Return the seared steak bites to the skillet, tossing them in the luscious glaze. Let them cook for another 1-2 minutes, just until warmed through and sticky. Sprinkle with fresh thyme, if desired, and serve hot.

Notes

Pro Tips for Success
Room Temperature Steak: Starting with room-temperature steak ensures a better sear.
Batch Cooking: Avoid overcrowding the skillet to keep the steak from steaming instead of searing.
