Equipment

  • Skillet for cooking bacon and sautéing vegetables.
  • Large mixing bowl for combining the meatloaf ingredients.
  • Baking dish to shape and cook the meatloaf.

Ingredients

  • 500 g 1.1 lb ground beef 🥩
  • 100 g 3.5 oz bacon, chopped 🥓
  • 1 small onion finely chopped 🧅
  • 2 cloves garlic minced 🧄
  • 200 g 7 oz mushrooms, sliced 🍄
  • 1 egg 🥚
  • 60 g 1/2 cup breadcrumbs 🍞
  • 100 g 3.5 oz Swiss cheese, grated 🧀
  • 15 ml 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce 🌟
  • Salt and pepper to taste 🧂

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven
  • Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  • Cook the Bacon
  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped bacon until crispy. Remove the bacon and set aside, leaving the flavorful bacon fat in the skillet.
  • Sauté Vegetables
  • In the same skillet, sauté the onions and garlic until softened and fragrant. Add the sliced mushrooms and cook until they release their moisture and begin to brown. Remove the skillet from the heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
  • Mix the Ingredients
  • In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, cooked bacon, sautéed vegetables, egg, breadcrumbs, Swiss cheese, Worcestershire sauce, and season with salt and pepper. Use clean hands or a spoon to mix everything until evenly incorporated.
  • Shape and Bake
  • Shape the meat mixture into a loaf and place it in a greased or parchment-lined baking dish. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the meatloaf is cooked through and the top is golden brown.
  • Rest and Serve
  • Remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest for about 5 minutes to allow the juices to redistribute. Slice and serve warm, topping with additional grated Swiss cheese if desired.

Notes

Tips for the Best Meatloaf 🥩✨
Don’t Overmix: Gently mix the ingredients to keep the meatloaf tender and juicy.
Rest Before Slicing: Let the meatloaf sit for a few minutes after baking to make slicing easier and neater.
