Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch casserole dish and set it aside.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula. Drain any excess grease.
- To the same skillet, add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the onion softens and becomes fragrant.
- Mix the uncooked rice into the beef mixture, ensuring it's evenly coated with the flavors from the skillet.
- Pour in the beef broth and stir in the cream of mushroom soup. Add the salt, pepper, and paprika. If using, stir in the green bell pepper.
- Transfer the mixture to the greased casserole dish, spreading it out evenly.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top.
- Cover the casserole dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove the casserole from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
