  • Wire cooling rack
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Shallow bowl (for rolling cookies in powdered sugar)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter room temperature
  • 1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup Christmas M&Ms

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone mats.
  • Cream Butter and Sugar:
In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter, 1/2 cup confectioners' sugar, and almond extract until light and fluffy.
  • Combine Dry Ingredients:
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the butter mixture, mixing until a dough forms.
  • Add M&Ms:

  • Form Cookies:
Scoop about 1.5 tablespoons of dough, roll into a ball, and place on the prepared baking sheets, spacing evenly.
  • Bake:
Bake the cookies for 12–14 minutes, or until the bottoms are lightly golden.
  • First Powdered Sugar Coating:
Let cookies cool for about 5 minutes, then roll each one in 2 cups of confectioners' sugar while still warm. Place on a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Second Powdered Sugar Coating:
Once the cookies are fully cooled, roll them again in the powdered sugar for a snowy, festive finish.
