Equipment

  • Small saucepan
  • mixing spoon
  • heat-safe glass jars or containers
  • Measuring spoons
  • optional ribbon or fabric for decorating jars

Materials

  • 1 cup water (to heat)
  • 2 tbsp unflavored gelatin (about 2 envelopes)
  • 1 tbsp salt (to prevent mold)
  • 1 cup room temperature water
  • 10–20 drops essential oil of choice
  • gel food coloring (optional)
  • fine glitter (optional)
  • heat-safe jars or containers

Instructions

  • In a small saucepan, heat 1 cup of water over medium heat until warm but not boiling.
  • Stir in 2 tablespoons (or 2 envelopes) of unflavored gelatin. Mix until completely dissolved.
  • Add 1 tablespoon of salt and stir well. This helps prevent mold over time.
  • Remove pan from heat and stir in 1 cup of room temperature water.
  • Add 10–20 drops of essential oil, a few drops of food coloring, and a pinch of glitter. Stir gently to combine.
  • Carefully pour the mixture into jars or containers, leaving space at the top.
  • Allow the mixture to cool and fully set for several hours or overnight at room temperature.
  • Decorate jars with ribbon, twine, or fabric toppers for a custom touch. Enjoy your scented sparkle!

Notes

Customize colors and scents seasonally or gift them in small jars wrapped with ribbon. Avoid direct sunlight and heat to keep the gel firm. Refresh scent weekly with a few new essential oil drops. Discard if mold forms after a few weeks.
