Crazy Crust Pie

Crazy Crust Pie is a unique and easy dessert with a twist – you make the crust and filling all in one step! With just a simple batter and a can of your favorite fruit pie filling, this pie bakes into a delicious treat that’s perfect for any occasion. No need to roll out a pie crust or fuss with intricate techniques; this pie practically makes itself in the oven.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 (21 oz) can fruit pie filling (apple, cherry, peach, blueberry, blackberry, etc.)
  • Sugar or cinnamon-sugar, for sprinkling

Instructions

1. Preheat Your Oven

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9-inch pie plate well to prevent the batter from sticking.

2. Make the Batter

In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, butter, milk, and egg. Beat the mixture well until smooth and fully combined.

3. Pour Batter and Add Filling

Pour the batter into the greased pie plate, spreading it evenly. Spoon the fruit pie filling into the center of the batter, leaving a 1-inch border around the edge.

4. Sprinkle with Sugar

If using apple or peach pie filling, sprinkle the top with cinnamon-sugar. For other fillings, a light sprinkle of sugar is perfect to enhance the sweetness.

5. Bake

Place the pie in the preheated oven and bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the dough is fully cooked. The batter will rise around the filling, creating a crust-like border.

6. Cool and Serve

Allow the pie to cool slightly before serving. This pie is delicious on its own or served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!
